As a fine arts painter, I worked with many artists learning the technical basics of oil painting. I returned to South Dakota in 2007, where I continue to improve my technical skills while painting the beautiful prairie scenery. I paint with a truthful representation of my connection with each subject, whether it be landscape or structure. I spend a great deal of time sketching local scenery from which I create my work either on site or in my studio. My progression as an artist is evidenced by my having been featured in publications such as International Artist and The 100 Southern Artists of San Diego County. My work is represented in collections throughout the country as well as internationally. I like to paint plein aire and express how each scene affects me. I do not paint with any particular style, but experiment regularly with different palettes as well as substrates, each being a new challenge with often unexpected results. As I continue my profession, I am amazed at the progression I experience. My visualization of objects and settings has evolved from preconceived to personal, allowing me to create images as I see them, not as others see them. I am on a life long artistic adventure, and I invite you to join me and share this wonderful experience. |
