ArtPerk: www.ArtPerk.com

ArtPerk is a website for artists seeking to locate display opportunities and gallery openings. It lists opportunities throughout the nation and offers unique features to help artists find opportunities to show their work in a quick, user-friendly way.

Artists seeking shows to enter have the ability to search by media (nice for sculptors and photographers, sometimes not allowed in jurored shows), by location (if you're partial to show your work only near your home), and other search parameters.

ArtPerk also allows users to save their searches and receive daily or weekly e-mails with those search results as reminders. The site is free for artists to search and for galleries and venues to post. Galleries can create listings for a fee if they'd like front page placement and other advantages.

Workshops
Dakota Landscapes: Writing and Painting Workshop with David Allan Evans and Gary Steinley
The Outdoor Campus is co-sponsoring a workshop for painting and/or writing about nature. Participants can specialize in painting (on-site oil painting) or writing (poetry, short fiction, and creative nonfiction), or they can divide their time equally between the two arts. The workshop will be taught by Gary Steinley, a South Dakota landscape painter, and David Allan Evans, poet laureate of South Dakota. These two instructors—based on their collaborations with each other—will not only provide instruction in their respective fields but also show how a writer can learn from a painter and a painter from a writer. Age: 16 and up. Class size: maximum 12 in painting; 15 in writing. Class dates: August 4-8 (Monday through Thursday, 8:30-12:00, and 1-4; Friday, 8:30-12). Cost: $225.00
