NEW MEMBER JUNE PALMER BIO:
June E. Palmer, professional artist and watercolor teacher, relocated to the Black Hills from southern Arizona where she was a signature member of Women Artists of the West. Her work includes a wide variety of subjects: landscapes, still lifes, flowers, markets, old buildings and animals. She has painted in Italy and Mexico as well as most of the western United States. She is a current signature member of the Artists of the Black Hills. Her work may be seen at Shaman Gallery, Hot Springs and Blue Dog Gallery, Lead.
Artist’s statement:
Nature is the master designer and painter. I never cease to be awed by her astounding sunsets, cascading brooks, sunlight on the fields, gorgeous clouds, the panoply of colors all around us. I attempt to create on paper that which I find in the environment so others may share in the joy nature provides. Watercolor is the medium which challenges me the most to replicate what I see.

LOCAL ARTIST AND SDAN MEMBER, JUNE PALMER, AWARDED ARTS COUNCIL GRANT…
Hot Springs resident June Palmer has received a $3000 grant given to artists each year by the South Dakota Arts Council. The grant is awarded for special projects which will assist in the continued development of the artist’s career and to recognize artists of exceptional talent. Ms. Palmer’s project will be the creation of a body of watercolors that illustrate the essential qualities represented by the Black Hills and Badlands unique sense of place. The Arts Council grants are highly sought by many artists in various fields, only 10 grants to individual artists were awarded this year, so it is a special honor to receive one.
June’s realistic watercolor paintings may be seen at the Shaman Gallery, the Blue Dog Gallery in Lead, and Reflections Gallery in Rapid City. She also teaches watercolor painting at her studio. She was formerly a member of Women Artists of the West and is presently a signature member of the Artists of the Black Hills. ______________________________ SDAN MEMBERS REQUEST ADDITIONAL PAGES FOR WEB SITES...
John Raynor, SDAN Webmaster has studied the possibilities and would like members to know that there could be a substantial increase in cost associated with the effort it would take for redesign of the site and additional web capacity required.
