I grew up in Parkersburg, West Virginia, where I began private art lessons at the age of ten, with portrait artist Dorothy Horne Decker. I later received a BFA in painting from Ohio University. I lived and worked in several states in the Mid-Atlantic region before coming to Aberdeen, SD in 1993. I recently moved to a new home in Saint Joseph, MN.

"The Storytellers" will be on exhibit as part of "Horizontal Grandeur" at the Stevens County Historical Museum in Morris, MN from July 9 - October 29, 2010. The exhibit honors Prairie Writer Bill Holm, who passed away in 2009.
"The Storytellers" was created for the annual Poets, Painters and Pavilion exhibition at the Washington Pavilion VAC in Sioux Falls, SD.
I worked with poet and prairie writer, Linda Hasselstrom. I traveled to her ranch near Hermosa, SD, and photographed the extensive cottonwood stands in her summer hayfield.
Click on the artwork for a description of "The Storytellers", as well as an excerpt from Hasslestrom's poem "Waiting for the Storm". Use the link to "Windbreak House" to learn more about Linda's writing, retreat center, and other activities.
