I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area and have lived in South Dakota since 1992. I have been making photographs of the Western United States for the past 25 years.

I have taught photography for 15 years and am currently an associate professor of Mass Communication at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. Both my BFA and MFA in photography are from The San Francisco Art Institute.

My photographs can be found in the collections of The Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, France; The Getty Museum Library, Malibu, California; the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Sciences, Sioux Falls, South Dakota and the San Francisco Art Institute. I currently live in Spearfish, SD with my beautiful and brilliant wife, Nancy and my wonderful son Stephen.
