Brookings, SD has more to offer than McCrory Gardens for landscape painting. There are the 'urban landscapes' that are part of every day life and possible worth a second look through the eyes of the artist. |

The Brookings Art Center building has been many things, but now works well for shows and exhibits of local and regional artwork, and is conveniently located between Main Street downtown and the Courthouse. It looks a little off-center here, but that's how I painted it. I had no interest in the west end of the building. |

The SDSU Campanile is such a landmark for the campus and in the community. But would you paint it as the student typically sees it?- a brief glance at the lower portion in the rush to classes? Or as alumni would like to remember it? Hmm... |

...and who could forget Nick's? Not so big, but a 'landmark' none the less. The street was tore up and I set up my easel on a mound of clay in a scorching sun. The shop was closed, but a man working inside came out with a cup of ice water for me and went back to work. |
